The Dynamites 63-66

Posted: 18 Mar 2019 12:38 PM PDT

The legendary Dynamites from Basel were formed in 1958 by Robert "Röbi"
Wittner. They first went under the name of LITTLE ROBIN BAND (adopted from
the Bobby Day song Rockin Robin), before it was changed to THE RED
DYNAMITES (after the Cliff Richard song Dynamite) and then finally
shortened to the much more dynamic, and explosive sounding name of THE
DYNAMITES in 1964.
Their first real lineup was consisting of Robert Wittner (lead vocals),
Willy Lanz (bass), Fritz Arpagaus (drums), Sandro Bellafati (rhythm guitar)
and Rolf Antener (lead guitar). On the 5. of January 1963, during a break
of a Red Dynamites show at the Safran in Basel, one of the people from the
audience came backstage, to ask The Red Dynamites leader Robert Wittner if
he could join the band for a session. It was Robert "Robi" Sulzer and he
had no band experience yet, but was a big fan of Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats
Domino and he had learned to play the piano at school. Sulzer became their
piano/organ player and second lead vocalist.
Some of their highlights include shows with Cliff Richard & The Shadows,
The Moody Blues (at an open-air festival in Paris 1/1966), Tony Sheridan
(with The Dynamites as backing band), Bill Ramsey (with The Dynamites as
for his backing band - at one very rare concert in Chur, Switzerland), Stan
Urban (as backing band), to play at the famous Film Ball in Munich, and the
winning of the international beat band battle at the legendary Golf Drouot
in Paris, that has brought them the contract for the French EP release.
They are famous for their well documented singles on Columbia and Philips.
Hard to find as they are, the rarest of their vinyl is the debut EP on the
tiny Sesam label from 64. It shows a group in development with one foot
still on the Shadows-platform and the other already on the R&B-train.

Giorgio Moroder ( Heimatliche Klaenge Vol's 80;81;89;93)

One of the principal architects of the disco sound, producer and composer
Giorgio Moroder was born in Ortisei, Italy, on April 26, 1940. Upon
relocating to Munich, Germany, he established his own studio, Musicland,
and recorded his debut single "Looky, Looky" in 1969; his first LP, Son of
My Father, was released in early 1972. Around that time Moroder was
introduced to fellow aspiring musician Pete Bellotte, with whom he formed a
production partnership; in collaboration with singer Donna Summer, the duo
was to become one of the most powerful forces in '70s-era dance music,
their success beginning with the release of 1974's Lady of the Night.
Summer's Love to Love You Baby followed in 1975; the title track, clocking
in at close to 17 minutes in length, was an international smash, its
shimmering sound and sensual attitude much copied in the years to follow.
At their mid-'70s peak, Moroder, Bellotte, and Summer were extraordinarily
prolific, releasing new albums about once every six months. Concept records
like 1976's A Love Trilogy and Four Seasons of Love culminated with the
release of 1977's I Remember Yesterday, a trip through time which climaxed
with the smash "I Feel Love." With its galloping bass line and futuristic,
computerized sheen, the single was among the watershed hits of the disco
era, and helped propel Summer to new prominence as the reigning diva of the
In 1978, Moroder made his initial foray into film music, winning an Academy
Award for his score to Alan Parker's Midnight Express. Summer's double-LP
Bad Girls followed in 1979, becoming a massive hit and spawning such
chart-topping singles as "Hot Stuff" and the title cut. After one final
studio LP, 1980's The Wanderer, the Moroder/Bellotte/Summer team disbanded,
and the disco era began drawing to a close.
In the early '80s, Moroder focused primarily on films; after producing the
soundtracks for pictures including American Gigolo and Cat People, he
turned to 1983's Flashdance, earning his second Oscar for the
hit "Flashdance...What a Feeling," performed by Irene Cara. In 1984,
Moroder courted controversy from film purists for his contemporary
electro-pop score to the restored release of Fritz Lang's silent-era
masterpiece Metropolis. After contributing to the soundtrack of the 1986
hit Top Gun, he turned increasingly away from dance music to focus on rock,
producing the album Flaunt It, the debut from the heavily hyped British
flash-in-the-pan Sigue Sigue Sputnik. In the years to follow, Moroder kept
a low profile on the pop charts, although he remained a fixture on film
soundtracks. In the 1990s, he also turned to remixing, debuting with a
reworking of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and going on to
tackle material from Heaven 17 and others.

If you gasp at the name of this group - wait until you hear the sound

no double meaning at all. THE SINGING END sings- and brings to an end
allother singing efforts by other groups. The group is still young. But its
members are not exactly greenhorns. Eachof them had run up a reputable

Wonderland - Wonderland Band No.1

Posted: 18 Mar 2019 09:45 AM PDT

This was a beat band formed at the beginning of 1968. Reichel and Tarrach
had previously been members of the most famous German beat band: The
Rattles. Wonderland recorded three singles before Humphries and Franke quit
at the end of 1969, to be replaced by Kalle Trapp and Claus-Robert Kruse.
One year and a single later the band ceased its activities, with Reichel
and Dostal teaming up for the Wonderland Band album, to which Franke,
Tarrach, Trapp and Kruse all contributed. All Wonderland singles and four
tracks for a projected album were collected in 1973 on a Karusell
sampler.WONDERLAND BAND - One of Achim Reichel's strangest projects
occurred in l97l, after the demise of Wonderland. His long time
collaborator Frank Dostal followed him from this band. Together they
recorded as Frankie Dymon .as well as the very different Wonderland Band,
whose album was an ambitious production featuring 25 guest musicians, among
them Clauk-Robert Kruse (guitar, organ, vocals, arrangements), Helmut
Franke (guitar), Ladi Geissler (guitar), Hans-Uwe Remers (piano,
arrangements), Benny Bendorf (bass), Hans Hartmann (bass), Kalle Trapp
(bass), Joe Nay (drums), Barry Reeves (drums) and Dicky Tarrach (drums,
chimes, trumpets and trombones). The results sounded close to the eclectic
solo album Die Grune Reise, but Reichel's echo guitars were in this case
replaced by solid doses of brass! Wonderland Band's No. 1 was equally weird
with boogie rock, vintage glitter rock and folky ballads spiced with
incredibly strange brass arrangements. It was hardly a great success
(however, there are highlights!) and proved to be a one-off, although a
1972 single featured two unreleased tracks: "Rock'n'Roll People" coupled
with "King Of America".
Die Band Wonderland wurde 1968 in Hamburg von Achim Reichel
gegrundet.

The Move - Anthology (4 CD's Box Set)

Posted: 18 Mar 2019 08:28 AM PDT

Apparently, the Move's discography is so complex that not even a lovingly
compiled, rarities-laden, career-spanning box set like Salvo's
2008Anthology 1966-1972 can fit everything within the confines of four
discs. The devil is in the licensing, as it always is, something that
always plagues Move compilations because their last album, Message from the
Country, was on Harvest, while their first two -- The Move and Shazam --
were on EMI and the third, Looking On, was on Fly. Typically, the first
three albums are grouped together -- as they were on WestSide's 1997 box
Movements -- with Message from the Country left lingering on its own, a
situation Salvo almost avoids on Anthology by cherry-picking the low-riding
heavy blues-rocker "Ella James" and loading up the fourth disc with the
wonderful post-Message singles that captured the band at some kind of a
zenith: "Tonight," "Do Ya," "Chinatown," "California Man." Although there
are parts of Message that are sorely missed, this is enough to help
Anthology paint a portrait of the band's full career, but it's a portrait
that's slightly skewed, largely because the set relies so heavily on
alternate takes and rarities. This approach makes Anthology manna for
collectors -- who very well may be the only audience for such a
comprehensive box set in 2008 -- as this piles on different mixes, markedly
different alternate versions such as an "early piano version" of "Fire
Brigade," and a simple acoustic version of "Flowers in the Rain," a bevy of
single edits, and a few enhanced stereo takes, plus studio chatter from
producer Tony Visconti. It's such a twisting maze that a good guide is
necessary and the liner notes by Mark Paytress provide just that with a
biographical overview and track-by-track liners. Yet even that is an
indication that this box set is intended not as a one-stop for neophytes
but a supplement to Salvo's expanded reissues (and EMI's expansion) of
Message, as a whopping 30 of the 62 tracks here are previously unreleased,
with another seven making their CD debut. Of course, many of these are
alternate mixes and takes, but there are some nice unheard items too,
including the two-part "Second Class" the early version of Roy
Wood's "She's Too Good for Me," and, best of all, four pre-debut tracks
that find the band sounding like a Tamla-influenced British beat band,
something they never quite were in their art-terrorist incarnation. But in
addition to these alternate takes comes an entire disc's worth of
unreleased music from the band live at the Marquee in 1968, which is
another huge incentive for collectors to pick this up. Some of this was
excerpted as the Something Else EP but this gives up a full 12 tracks of
the Move at the peak of their powers and they sound monstrous: huge,
lumbering, loud, as progressive and primal as the Who, but at once stranger
and more of a down and dirty rock & roll band, kicking out versions
of "Somethin' Else," "Stephanie Knows Who," "Piece of My Heart," "(Your
Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher," and "So You Want to Be a Rock &
Roll Star." The power of this set, along with the blistering version of "I
Can Hear the Grass Grow" and the Nazz's "Open My Eyes" from the Fillmore
West in 1969, may be the biggest revelation of the set, and it's also why
this collector-bait heavy box isn't just for collectors. Sure, this is
loaded up with rarities, but it does give the arc of the band's career,
contains most -- but certainly not all -- of their great songs, and
provides jolt after jolt of weird, wild, wonderful rock and pop, music that
still has the power to intoxicate all these years later. If you're already
one of the converted this is essential, but if you haven't learned how to
love the Move, this box may still be necessary as there is no one album
that contains all their sounds in one place. Besides, the Move were too big
to be contained by one box -- at least this one comes the closest to
getting it all right.

The End - From Beginning to End ( 4 Cd's Box Set)

Although never achieving the success they deserved, the End are best
remembered for their Bill Wyman-produced psychedelic-pop that was a
masterful mixture of swirling, dream-like numbers, and flowery, but never
twee, pop. Their Introspection album is now viewed as one of the finest
examples of British psychedelia. Dave Brown and Colin Giffin formed the End
in 1965 following the demise of beat group the Innocents. Nicky Graham and
John Horton were drafted in from Dickie Pride's backing group, the Original
Topics, and the line-up was completed with former Tuxedos drummer Roger
Groom. After recording at the now legendary R.G. Jones' Morden studio,
successful friend Bill Wyman arranged a tour with the Rolling Stones. They
also appeared with Spencer Davis on ITV television's Thank Your Lucky Stars
playing "Hallelujah I Love Her So." At this time their music was very much
in the club-soul/blue-eyed soul style that was sweeping England by storm.
Following the tour, Roger Groom quit to be replaced by Hugh Atwooll, a
former school friend of Nicky Graham. John Horton also quit, but the split
was amicable as he continued to help out on their second single, "Shades of
Orange." Cut by Bill Wyman, with the addition of Charlie Watts on tabla,
the song was recorded during the sessions for the Rolling Stones'
psychedelic foray, Their Satanic Majesties Request. "Shades of Orange"
epitomizes British Psychedelia and is one of the genre's most sought after
items.Following the single's release, Gordon Smith also left and was
replaced by former Mode guitarist Terry Taylor. The band then decamped to
Spain, where several singles were released domestically, including "Why," a
Top Five hit in April 1967. By Christmas 1968, both Colin Giffin and Hugh
Attwooll had left after recording the Introspection album, and although a
new drummer, Paul Francis, was enlisted, the writing was on the wall. With
the arrival of another Mode refugee, Jim Henderson, the End metamorphosed
into the more progressive-sounding Tucky Buzzard. Introspection was delayed
for over a year due to a fallout from the Rolling Stones' bust-up with
Allen Klein and was musically the type of psychedelia that had gone out of
fashion by the time of its December 1969 release. The band had changed name
and style, leaving this glorious album to sink without a trace.

do Cálix.

“É uma expectativa muito grande para todos nós! Vai ser um show com mais
arranjos novos, um lugar novo e tudo isso vai deixar admirado quem já viu
nosso show e até mesmo quem nunca viu. Será mais surpreendente”, comemora
Guilherme Castro, líder do Somba.

“Este show

do lúdico.
